I have grown up and lived in the Southeastern USA my entire life. At times I want to just get away, but then I see a stunning sight that can only be captured in the Southeast and it makes my desire to escape diminish a little bit more. Over the years, I have taken some photos that really show the beauty of the Southeast and now I want to share them with you. Whether you’re a local or an international traveler, I think that these photos will soon have you planning a road trip around this part of the world.
I captured this photo while driving from Cherokee, North Carolina to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. It’s a gorgeous drive that only takes about an hour and there are many spots to stop and take in the views along the way.
Pigeon Forge, Tennessee is one of my favorite weekend getaway spots and with views like this, no wonder! This was taken from Wahoo Adventure Park.
Here’s my sister, Lauren, sitting on the dock and taking in the view in the river town of Ohatchee, Alabama.
Check out the Walnut Street Bridge as it stretches across downtown Chattanooga, Tennessee! It’s the perfect place to take a stroll.This is the view from my front porch in LaFayette, Georgia. Hang gliders jump off of Pigeon Mountain (there in the background) during the Summer and sometimes land in my yard.
Here’s the view from the very top of Pigeon Mountain. If you look extra closely, you might see my house way down there.This pier at John Tanner Park in Carrollton, Georgia was a bit rickety, but I survived my trip to the end of it.The Ocoee River in Tennessee was home to some of the sports in the 1996 Summer Olympics. It’s fun to visit and watch people rafting and kayaking. Very entertaining!
…and another one of Panama City Beach, Florida because it’s just too stunning to resist. I wish I was there right now.Little River Canyon in Mentone, Alabama is the perfect place for a Summer cookout or picnic. There are a lot of trails for hiking or you can even jump into the water from this waterfall if you’re feeling adventurous.The Chickamauga Battlefield in Georgia is full of both history and photo ops with cannons, towers, and old houses.Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is another one of my favorite vacation spots. Not only is there a gorgeous beach, but there are also countless activities and attractions.
So, are you ready to travel around the Southeastern USA yet?

I’ve got too many places on my bucket list already but I think I need to see the southern US as well!
Wow. I’ve never really ranked the country high on my travel bucket list (Because well, we think we know everything there is to know about the US of A thanks to popular culture) but then something like this just blows you away! Definitely putting it on my list now! Sigh those sights, those sights!

Apart from the obvious LA or NY, the States still remain pretty much unknown in Europe. This part looks amazing indeed! And so diverse!!
Would love to visit all of the places. I was in Alabama a couple years ago but I missed Ohatchee, Alabama. Too bad.

More than the pictures even are the names of places in your part of the world… so exotic. They speak of adventure like you read in Ton Sawyer or something. One day i’d love to explore the southeast, definitely… Georgia, Alabama, Virginia… are all places i’ve read about many times and that i’d lvoe to see for myself

You weren’t kidding with that title! Visiting more of the US in general – espeially some of its amazing national parks and lesser known states -is getting nearer the top of my must do list all the time!
Your photos have reminded me of the beauty of the area where I grew up. I think it’s time for me to schedule a trip home to Atlanta and rent a car.
